Demonstrating at the Moon Lake Threshing Bee

I had a wonderful weekend demonstrating my 1880’s Domestic treadle sewing machine at the local Moon Lake Threshing Bee.  I also brought along my redone 1898 Singer hand crank for folks to try out. Many were reluctant when I said, “Give it a try,” but when they did they decided it was very easy to use. One lady tried it for awhile and said she needed one of those. 😀

It is so rewarding to share an old pastime and give people the idea that the one (treadle) they may have tucked away in a corner of their house or garage, etc. may be fun to try sewing with.

Thanks to all who came out and made my Saturday and Sunday wonderful!

  1. Every time I share that I sew all my clothes and quilt on my treadle, they are quite surprised 🙂 It is the easiest machine to manage and the stitching is just right 🙂
